TELECOMWORLDWIRE-25 September 2001-Western Europe’s ERP services market to enjoy solid growth in next five years – report (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The western European market for services around enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications is expected to grow from USD15bn this year to USD24bn by 2005, according to a new report from IDC.

Currently 61% of spending on ERP services, which include consulting, implementation, support, training and ERP application operation services, is concentrated in western Europe’s four largest economies: Germany, Britain, France and Italy. IDC believes that demand for the services will be strong in the future, though it will not go back to the levels seen in 1998 and 1999.

ERP services will shift from consulting and implementation towards operation management and improving the applications, the study predicts. In addition the market for ERP in the large enterprise segment will mature while demand for ERP services in the small and medium-sized enterprise market is expected to rise.
