South Korean-based mobile phone manufacturer LG Electronics Inc is aiming to increase sales of its 3G mobiles by 58% to 6m this year, the company said on Thursday (1 September).
After reporting a loss from mobile sales in the second quarter, the company hopes to record a profit following the launch of its new handsets.
LG reported an operating loss of KRW4bn from phone sales in the April-June period of 2005, with profit margin for the quarter falling to a negative 0.2%, from a 3.6% profit margin in the first quarter and compared with 6.4% a year ago, reported Reuters.
The company had previously reduced its overall target for 2005 handset sales from 62m to 50m units.
