Acquisition of WholeSecurity completed by Symantec

Security solutions provider Symantec Corp (Nasdaq:SYMC) announced on Wednesday (5 October) that it has completed its acquisition of behaviour-based security and anti-phishing technology provider WholeSecurity Inc.

The acquisition was previously announced on 22 September 2005.

According to Symantec, WholeSecurity’s solutions protect PCs from crimeware including worms, Trojan horses, keystroke loggers and phishing attacks by leveraging behavioural technology to protect users on both managed and unmanaged PCs.

Through utilising technology from WholeSecurity, Symantec aims to bring real-time protection to consumer and enterprise desktops.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
