The eRouter-200 is Vina’s latest device for providing small and medium businesses economical access to the Internet or their WAN. Vina claims the router incorporates a processor optimized to provide superior performance and full-rate T1 data speed but at a price that’s almost half that of competing products. According to the vendor, the router out-performed comparable products from other vendors in a test by the Tolly Group. The eRouter allows for Web-based system configuration, system version download and maintenance. The device is currently in carrier trials. Vina has also released a chassis-based IAD for service providers that want to offer bundled data, Internet access and voice services to medium-sized businesses, Vina touts the MX-600 as the highest density IAD because it supports from eight to 48 POTS line per single six-slot chassis. By one estimate, nearly two-thirds of medium-sized companies require more than 18 POTS lines. Vina says the MX-600 is designed to support current TDM, frame relay and IP networks and, at the same time, provide a migration path to next-gen applications such as G.SHDSL and VoIP. The MX-600 is available.
