Not to be outdone by emerging vendors such as Sylantro and Broadsoft, Lucent Technologies has introduced its Enhanced Business Services 2.0 solution. As a complement to its IP Centrex solution, EBS 2.0 creates a Web-based portal with new features such as call and presence management (call logging, click-to-dial and transfer/conference-to-dial from multiple LDAP directories); instant messaging, conference management; and calendar meeting management. Residing in the service provider network, EBS 2.0 interfaces to Lucent’s IP Centrex solution to provide value-added enterprise services from a single platform. In addition, EBS 2.0 offers a “secure local data” option where EBS applications come from the service provider’s network, but through which proprietary enterprise data such as addresses and employee names reside in the enterprise LAN network. Already deployed in SBC’s network, where it will begin its own Centrex IP offering in September, Lucent’s IP Centrex solution incorporates the iMerge Centrex Feature Ga teway and SpringTide IP switch to give service providers a means to deliver Class 5 services over a packet network.
