Promina Web Site Offers Health Information And Services
PROMINA Health System, the largest not-for-profit health care organization in Georgia, has announced its affiliation with drkoop.com, Inc., a leading Internet consumer health network led by Dr. C. Everett Koop, the former U.S. Surgeon General.
Visitors to the Web site, at http://www.promina.org, will be able to access more than 66,000 pages of health information and interactive services. These pages include the latest health news, interactive support groups, a medical encyclopedia, and a drug interaction database. Additionally, users will be able to act on the information they find through local health resources, support groups, physician contacts, and relation information.
The affiliation with drkoop.com gives PROMINA users access to more than 50 disease centers and over 1,700 health and wellness topics by a variety of distinguished healthcare sources. There are also local resources associated with drkoop.com’s Drug Checker ™, Preventionnaire, and interactive communities, which include over 130 support groups and 17 message boards.
Users also have access to PROMINA’s medical services offered by PROMINA hospitals and doctors, articles from PROMINA’s newsletter ‘Healthy Times’, and a calendar of available programs and support groups. Other features include special areas about senior health, alternative medicine and women’s health, online class registration, and a list of local medical libraries.
The PROMINA Health System was created in October 1994 by Atlanta’s top community-based providers and is made up of five health systems: DeKalb Regional Healthcare System, Gwinnett Health System, Piedmont Health System, Southern Regional Health System, and WellStar Health System, which include 14 hospitals throughout metro Atlanta.
