Lightware Inc. in April will deliver its own contender in the expanding market for Extended Graphics Array LCD projectors.

The L-1020, with a list price of $9,995, weighs 13 pounds and measures 14 by 11 by 5 inches. The projector uses a 700-lumen metal-halide lamp and three polysilicon LCD panels to project 24-bit-color images measuring up to 25 feet diagonally at an Extended Graphics Array (XGA) resolution of 1,024 by 768 pixels. It also handles Super XGA images of 1,280 by 1,024 pixels via compression.

Besides signals from Macs and Intel-standard PCs, the L-1020 handles NTSC, PAL (European) and SECAM (French) video signals.

It includes a zoom lens, a built-in universal power supply and a pair of 3-watt speakers. Lightware will ship the projector with a remote that includes a lighted keypad and mouse cable, as well as cables and a nylon carrying case.
