Pacific Coast Software this month added international features to WebCatalog, the company’s electronic commerce system.

WebCatalog 2.1 incorporates enhancements to WebDNA, the server-side tag language used to create storefronts. WebDNA can now encrypt data and give users access to custom MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) headers, Pacific Coast said. WebCatalog 2.1 also offers enhanced manipulation of Web cookies, according to the company.

Other new features include a new method for converting multiple character sets for multilingual Web sites. The new version also supports international currencies and allows for more-complex tax and shipping formulas, the company said.

Pacific Coast said Version 2.1 supports the multihoming capabilities of StarNine WebStar 3.0, Tenon Intersystems’ WebTen 2.0 and Social Engineering Inc.’s Quid Pro Quo 2.0. The software runs on Windows 95 and NT.

WebCatalog 2.1 costs $2,499; upgrades from Version 2.0 are free, according to the company.

WebCatalog was previously sold exclusively by StarNine Technologies Inc. of Berkeley, Calif.; Pacific Coast said the package is now sold by StarNine and other resellers.
