Internet: EveryWare readies revisions to Tango – EveryWare Development Tango for FileMaker 3.0 Web database connectivity software – Product Announcement – Brief Article
Andrea Dudrow
EveryWare Development Inc. is preparing to ship new versions of its
Web-database connectivity offerings.
Version 3.0 of Tango for FileMaker, scheduled to ship in mid-March, and Tango
Enterprise, due in early April, will provide a visual environment from which
Webmasters can link FileMaker Pro or SQL databases, respectively, to Web sites
(see 10.27.97, Page 1). The Mac packages were first scheduled to ship in
November 1997.
The upgrade to Tango for FileMaker will link to Version 4.0 of FileMaker Pro,
and it will provide a host of Java-integration capabilities. The software can
access Java classes and Java Beans on both the client and server sides, and it
will be compatible with JavaScript 1.2, EveryWare said.
Webmasters will be able to use the $695 Tango for FileMaker to send e-mail
messages. The upgrade will come with new metatags for mathematical
calculations and date functions.
In addition, the package provides a graphical interface for conditional
statements, which the company said would simplify the creation of database
queries. EveryWare said a new File action will enable users to access, edit
and delete files on a Tango server.
Tango Enterprise comprises two parts: Tango Development Studio, a $695
application creation tool, and the $2,500 Tango Application Server, which
hosts Tango applications. The Development Studio costs $1,975 for a five-user
version and $2,750 for a 10-user version.
A new team feature in Version 3.0 will allow groups to work collectively on
Tango Enterprise projects, EveryWare said. The upgrade will also support
transaction processing and let developers run code from within the development
environment without publishing applications first, the company said.
Upgrades from previous versions of Tango for FileMaker will cost $249.
Upgrades for the Tango Enterprise editor will cost $395 for a single-user pack
and $995 for five-, 10- and unlimited-user packs.
