Verizon Wireless certifies Digi International’s WAN router for EV-DO network

The ConnectPort WAN VPN from Digi International, a hardware and software provider, has been certified for use on the high-speed EV-DO network of Verizon Wireless, a wireless services provider in the US.

The ConnectPort WAN VPN modular 3G wireless wide area network (WWAN) router is reportedly the only commercial grade solution offering such flexibility to be certified by Verizon Wireless. It provides a high-speed, secure WWAN connection for reliable primary and backup network connectivity to remote sites and devices.

The solution can connect almost any remote location into the corporate IP network, at speeds resembling broadband, and is suitable for use where alternative network connections are needed, or where wired networks are not possible.

The solution can be managed remotely via Digi Connectware Manager or locally through a built-in web interface and can be used with the integrated Sierra Wireless MC5720 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module. This enables users to deploy on the EV-DO 1xRTT Rev 0 network, and replace the wireless module to upgrade to the EV-DO 1xRTT Revision A in the future.
