UK Government awards contracts to expand broadband availability

The UK Government has announced that it has awarded a number of contracts for the provision of broadband services around the UK.
In total, 17 framework agreements have been made, each of which is expected to expand the reach of broadband services. A spokesperson for the UK Government said that the agreements will position the UK for 100% broadband availability by the end of 2005. Other aims of the initiative is to make Britain the most extensive and competitive broadband market in the G7 community, according to the UK Government.
