IT security company Symantec Corp has announced that it has signed an extension of its licensing agreement with e-mail services provider MSN for its Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam solution.

The software has been used to help detect and stop spam messages before they enter MSN Hotmail accounts since 2002. The solution stops spam messages at the SMTP gateway, and features high detection rates, the industry’s highest accuracy rate against false positives (99.9999%), and the ability to handle large e-mail volume, according to the company.

A spokesperson for MSN said that its customers’ protection and safety remains a top priority, and Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam plays an important part in its overall spam fighting solution.
