Broadband wireless equipment provider, Redline Communications, has announced that UK wireless connectivity services provider, Nomad Digital, has selected its broadband wireless technology for a new high-speed Internet project for the UK’s Southern Trains.
The project – a joint effort from Nomad, mobile telecomms company T-Mobile, and Southern Trains – will see Redline’s AN-50e broadband wireless platforms deployed on selected trains between London and Brighton. The new service will be rolled out further as adoption grows, and is part of a T-Mobile HotSpot scheme to provide commuters with WiFi connectivity.
A spokesperson for Nomad said that finding a solution that could deliver secure high-speed access in a mobile application, with sufficiently low latency and rapid registration as the train enters each sector was a huge barrier, but the Redline technology came through providing the reliability, bandwidth and speed needed for the project.
