Online shopping in the UK now 6% of total, claims statistics office – Office for National Statistics reports – Brief Article

The Office for National Statistics in the UK has reported that online shopping grew in January 2003 to represent 6% of all retail sales in the UK.

The organisation goes on to state that in December 2002 online retailing grew 19 times faster than traditional retailing outlets. In January 2003 the figure for online shopping grew by 5% to reach GBP1bn while offline shopping fell 44% to end up at GBP16.5bn, according to the Interactive Media in Retail Group.
