London Action Plan on spam enforcement is agreed

A total of 19 bodies from 15 countries attending the London international spam enforcement workshop organised by the UK Office of Fair Trading and the US Federal Trade Commission have agreed on an international action plan to communicate and cooperate on enforcement action to tackle spam.

The London Action Plan is aimed at developing international links to address spam and spam-related problems. Participating government bodies have agreed to encourage communication and coordination between agencies, organize regular conferences to discuss spam-related issues, and encourage dialogue between government agencies and private sector representatives.

The participating private-sector representatives have agreed to establish a designated contact within an organisation, facilitate contacts with spam enforcement agencies, work with other private sector representatives, participate in conference calls, assist in training for government agencies and assist government agencies in understanding the best ways to request information from them.
