Legal publishers face digital challenge

Legal publishers face digital challenge

Legal publishers are to face a new web-based challenger after entrepreneur Richard Shepherd bought a controlling interest in employment law website Emplaw.

Shepherd plans to relaunch the website, which is used throughout the legal profession and by other bodies such as trade unions, in a bid to end the dominance of legal publishers in the supply of premium legal content.

Shepherd believes that Emplaw will take the lead in the transfer from paper-based to digital-based products.

This new venture follows his Everyform website which he began in 1999, which provides downloadable forms, such as company registration forms. Within months 35% of UK law firms had signed up to the site, reports The Scotsman.
