Amstrad survey shows that UK users e-mail from home for privacy – Brief Article

Communications device manufacturer Amstrad has conducted a survey on why people in the UK e-mail from home and found that 24% do so to avoid managers reading personal e-mails.
The second most common reason was to stay in contact with friends and family overseas with 17% while third place was to stay in touch with friends and family in the UK with 15%. The next most popular reason was to apply for jobs with 12% while the fifth most popular reason was to stay in contact with difficult relatives without actually having to speak to them with 9%.
A spokesperson for the company has said that home e-mail usage has been encouraged by a desire for privacy and the fear of getting a reprimand at work.
