Network Appliance Teams with Oracle on E-Business and Enterprise Content Delivery – Brief Article
NetworkAppliance announced plans to work with Oracle to develop collaborative solutions to distribute e-business content to the edges of an enterprise. The companies’ approach aims to liberate information from the corporate data center, proliferate it for maximum effect at remote and branch offices, and distribute it to the employees whose timely use of that information is vital to business success. This information liberation is made possible by a solution known as an enterprise content delivery network (ECDN), which transforms existing corporate intranets into powerful, global information, data, and content dissemination tools equipped for document distribution, field and corporate communications, streaming media, and distance learning.
At the heart of the Network Appliance collaboration with Oracle is Edge Side Includes (ESI), an open specification for assembling dynamic Web pages at the edge of the data center and at the edge of the Internet. With ESI, companies can reduce the complexity and infrastructure requirements of developing, deploying, and maintaining highly scalable and reliable intranet sites and e-business-based applications. Network Appliance will endorse the ESI specification as a proposed open language for caching dynamic content; NetworkAppliance and Oracle plan to work together to make edge caching of dynamic content seamless with caching in the application server, and to bring flagship enterprise CDN functionality to customers around the world.
