GeoSentry guards personal safety – Launches
GeoSentry of Anaheim, California, has introduced a portable tracking and monitoring service that integrates hardware and software for GPS-based positioning, digital wireless communications, Web server-based digital mapping with position overlay, and Internet routing of location and status messages. The five-ounce, 3.8 X 2.5 X 1.1-inch selfcontained PT-1000 transportable device combines a SiRFStar lleLP GPS receiver with SiRF XTrac enhanced software, GSM cellular, antennas, and battery and determines location and communicates it via the Internet to computers, laptops, and wireless PDAs.
Applications include covert asset and hazmat tracking, reporting situation awareness to public safety personnel, and providing distress signal alerts and location.
