The Hub Folding Box Company has licensed the rights to the Teddipack. Hub and British security solution provider De La Rue International Limited have formed an alliance to market the Teddipack in North America. The Teddipack offers several features to distinguish it from the traditional jewel case including, recyclability, increased graphics area, lighter weight, and a slimmer profile. The Teddipack also provides a unique suite of anti-counterfeit options including banknote-type substrates with watermarks and security threads, an array of print features, holograms, and devices to tag or trace the product. The companies also believe that the Teddipack has “the appeal of the retro record album jacket.”

TDK, LEDA Announce Availability of 80-Minute CD-R Discs
TDK Electronics Corporation has announced its introduction of extended-capacity 80-minute/ 700MB multimedia and music CD-R discs. TDK has supplied 80-minute discs for music mastering since 1996, but the company decided to bring the discs to wider business and consumer markets following the publication earlier this spring of updated industry standards for 80-minute discs. The new CDR-80 (multimedia) and CD-TWIN-R80 (home music) discs differ from TDK’s 74-minute discs in the pitch (fineness) of the data track inscribed on the disc, which allows more data to be written on the disc. The finer track pitch, however, may make the discs incompatible with some recorders, players, and recording software. The suggested retail price for the CDR-80 and CD-TWIN-R80 is $6.99.
LEDA Distribution Corp. has also decided to market 8C-minute CD-R discs under the LEDA or Sirus brand names in addition to an unbranded version. The LEDA discs offer 2X, 4X, 6X, and 8X write-speed compatibility. LEDA is in the process of testing drive compatibility, but asserts that the discs work with most major CD-R software programs including Easy CD Creator, WinOnCD, Nero, and Easy CD Pro. The suggested list price for LEDA’s branded discs is $1.99; spindles of 100 unbranded discs carry a suggested list price of $1.50/disc.
