Command Software acquires Elektroson’s GEAR CD-R technology – Brief Article
Command Software Systems, a developer of enterprise antivirus and network security solutions, has acquired Elektroson’s GEAR CD-R software technology. The company will market the long-standing professional-level recording tool through a subsidiary, GEAR Software Inc., that will specialize in providing consumer and professional premastering and recording applications for the CD-R industry. GEAR Software will handle sales, marketing, and engineering of the current product line as well as new product development. “The acquisition of a solid CD-R software product line and the launch of a new subsidiary represent significant market opportunities for Command,” says Dyan Dyer, CEO of Command Software Systems. “With the considerable development and marketing resources that we can contribute, we are confident that GEAR Software will occupy a significant presence in the professional UNIX and NT space as well as the general consumer Windows and Macintosh markets.” John Battista of GEAR Software adds, “We are extremely pleased at the opportunity to expand our market share and build upon a well-established CD-R product line such as GEAR. We expect to fully leverage the added engineering and fiscal resources of our parent company to further the reputation for quality that the GEAR brand name has come to represent.”
