SGI 1600SW Flat Panel Monitor Now An Option For Dell Buyers
Silicon Graphics Inc.’s new 1600SW flat panel monitor is being made available as a bundle option with Dell Computer Corp.’s Precision WorkStation. The $2,499 flat panel monitor option, called the Digital Flat Panel Solution Pack, includes SGI’s 1600SW digital flat monitor and a digitally equipped Revolution IV-FP 32MB graphics accelerator from Number Nine Visual Technology. By offering the 1600SW with the Dell Precision, SGI says it is expanding its reach to offer its high-end flat panel screen, previously available only to SGI customers, to a whole new audience. Silicon Graphics says the 1600SW offers a 17.3-inch viewing area comparable to a 19-inch CRT monitor and supports the highest resolution of any commercially available LCD display. The monitor is capable of displaying 24-bit graphics (16.7 million colors) at resolutions up to 1600×1024.
