Mwg Biotech Opens High Point Facility
MWG Biotech Inc., headquartered in Ebersberg, Germany, recently celebrated the grand opening of its Customer Biotechnology Center in High Point.
The genomics company will use the new center as a demonstration site for automated biosystems, arrayers and scanners and customer scientific workshops. The facility will also include a technical service center for MWG’s instruments and will house the company’s shipping, receiving and warehousing departments.
MWG recently became a member of the North Carolina Genomics and Bioinformatics Consortium, founded and coordinated by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. The Consortium’s mission is to strengthen the state’s scientific, educational and business resources in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.
Representatives of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center attended the grand opening to welcome the new company to the area. Also attending the event were representatives from Affymetrix of Santa Clara, Calif., and Millipore of Bedford, Mass., MWG’s top strategic partners.
“These very important alliances have allowed MWG the unique position of being a full-service genomics company,” stated Alois Schneiderbauer, president of MWG.
