Working on your wedge play

Josh Zander

You find yourself 60 yards from the hole. You ask yourself, “How hard should I hit this? Should I ease up a little bit?” This indecision occurs because you may rarely get to practice these shots. You may think the range is just for full swings, but it’s also a great place to hit shots from 100 yards and in.

The technique for hitting pitch shots is fairly simple. The distance of the shot deter- mines the length of your backswing. Progres- sively increase your backswing as the shot gets longer, and make sure your follow- through is longer than the backswing.
