What’s in my bag? – professional golfer on the clubs in his bag – Brief Article
Lee Janzen
Like everyone else, I’m still trying to find that extra 10 to 15 yards off the tee. I’ve used about five different drivers this year, looking for one with the right kick point. Even though I’m hitting this one straighter, I’m still looking for one I can hit farther. One of the biggest changes for a tour player is if they have a driver, 3-wood or irons they absolutely love and then are forced to change equipment. That can be tough.
Irons
My irons (3-PW) are Taylor Made Burners with 7.0 Rifle shafts, but I’ll probably switch to the FireSole irons soon. I interchange a Rescue club (shown) with my 2-iron, depending on the course. The short irons are about 4 degrees upright.
Wedges
I use a Cleveland 56-degree sand wedge bent to 55 and a Snake Eyes 62-degree wedge, both with 6.5 Rifle shafts. I prefer a full shot, so I lay back to about 100 yards so I can hit my sand wedge.
Woods
I use a Taylor Made FireSole driver (8.5 degrees) and 3-wood (13 degrees) both with Double-X Bubble shafts. The driver shaft has a high kick point, the 3-wood a medium kick point. It’s hard to find a good 3-wood, and this may be the best one I’ve ever had.
Putter
I use a Taylor Made Nubbins putter. It’s only 32 inches, because I’ve noticed that good putters have their hands hanging naturally below their waists, which makes the arms swing easier.
