Adams clubs combine steel and graphite: Tight Lies irons with GT shaft – golf equipment – Brief Article

In an attempt to combine playability with performance, Adams debuts its Tight Lies irons with the GT (graphite tip) shaft. The clubhead features a wide sole, thin top line and the familiar Tight Lies reverse-draft appearance. The real story is the unusual-looking shaft. Made by True Temper, each shaft features a graphite tip section (progressively longer from short-to- long iron) that fits into a steel shaft. The idea is to optimize the tip area of the club for consistent stability at impact while at the same time optimizing the remainder of the shaft for feel and feedback ($699 for set of eight; 800-622-0609; www.adamsgolf.com).
