Olive oil may oil the joints – Brief Article – Excerpt
Olive oil has been shown to protect against cardiovascular disease. Now this–olive oil may reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes painful and crippling inflammation of the joints. Research from Athens University in Greece and two medical centers in Boston inversely linked olive oil consumption with occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis–the more olive oil consumed the lower the incidence of rheumatoid arthritis. Olive oil keeps racking up reasons to be included in a healthy diet and using olive oil in cooking and in salads makes good sense. Just remember that all oils weigh in at 100 calories per teaspoon and fat calories in your diet should be limited to 30% of the total.
