ITBS? Cross train with a recumbent bike – iliotibial band syndrome – Brief Article

If you suffer iliotibial band syndrome (knee or hip pain due to inflammation caused by a tight band of tissue that extends from your hip to the outside of your knee), try crosstraining on a recumbent bike. Although typically considered a runners injury, bicyclists also suffer ITBS. A recumbent bike stabilizes the rotation of the hips while pedaling and can be a great crosstraining method if you have trouble with this injury. For more information on iliotibial Band Syndrome see Running & FitNews, March 2001 or visit www.americanrunning.org.
