Vietnam’s biggest telecom service provider to halt paging services
Vietnam’s biggest telecom service provider, VNPT, has decided to halt its paging services due to low efficiency.
As of September 1, 2004, the firm will close all of its paging networks, including Viet Nam 107, Viet Nam 1570, Ha Noi-ABC 133, Sai Gon-ABC 133, MCC 130, Phonelink 135, Epro 138 and Da Nang 140, VNA reported.
Explaining VNPT’s decision, a corporate source said that the sharp decline in business was the reason.
To ensure the customers’ interests, from now to August 31, VNPT will pay 300,000 VND in compensation for each pager. Those pagers who shifted to using its post-paid mobile phone or CityPhone (an inner- city mobile phone network) will be given 200,000 VND in compensation.
