Strolling Along
Crupi, Jeffrey
Walking is a very beneficial exercise for your body. Taking a daily walk can help your body in a variety of ways. For example, a daily walk can, among other things, lower blood pressure, increase metabolism, boost good cholesterol and build cardiovascular endurance.
To help maximize the benefits of your walking regimen, there are several walking accessories that you can purchase for under $100. These accessories will help you to make the most out of your walking workout.
The right tools
Walking sticks. Walking sticks can be used to help you tone your upper body. The additional arm movement will not just help to firm up your arms, but it will also help you to burn additional calories during your walk. Walking sticks can be found at sporting goods and outdoor adventure stores.
Power belt. A power belt is worn around the waist. Attached to the belt are soft handles that provide a slight resistance while you swing your arms forward and back. Power belts help to work the muscles in your bi-ceps, triceps, chest and back. By using a power belt, you’ll burn a considerable amount more calories than walking without it.
Weighted gloves. Weighted gloves are two-pound weights that are sewn into gloves. The additional weight will provide you with more resistance while you walk.
Heart monitor. Heart monitors record your heart rate per minute. To burn a significant amount of calories while walking, make sure your heart rate is 60 to 70% of your maximum heart rate.
Sunny days ahead
