FAME! REMIXERS, DJs WILL ROCK FOREVER – Dance Music Hall of Fame – Brief Article
Finally, the world’s top DJs and major dance-music contributors will no longer be forgotten, but remembered for eternity (okay, maybe not that long) as inductees to the Dance Music Hall of Fame. As with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists and other nominees are eligible for induction 25 years after their first contribution or release. The induction process works like this: Each year the nominating committee and the Dance Music Hall of Fame Board of Advisors – including Jellybean Benitez, Dimitri From Paris, Frankie Knuckles, Pete Tong, Louie Vega and others – will select nominees for Performer, Producer, Record, Remixer and DJ. Then, an international voting committee of more than 1,000 dance-music experts will vote, with an awards ceremony to follow later. The first Dance Music Hall of Fame inductees – three performers, three records, one producer, one remixer and one DJ – will be announced in New York in spring 2004.
