Although there are no stats to prove this, I think that the Internet provides a vehicle for affairs (“Sex and the Instant Message,” December 2003). My soon-to-be ex-husband met his girlfriend online. Although they lived in different states at the time, they have both left their spouses and children and now live together in Texas. I don’t think that either would have left their families had they not had the opportunity to chat continually at work.
