That erotic cover
Rose Schaut
I am a high school English teacher, and I keep copies of Psychology Today on my magazine rack. Your October issue has some wonderful articles in it. There is an especially relevant article about teens and antidepressants that many of my students would have benefited from. Even the cover story contains a great deal of information about love and relationships that teenagers should consider. It’s unfortunate that, due to the cover itself, I am unable to shelve this particular issue in my classroom. Naked embraces, while beautiful in the bedroom, are inappropriate for grocery store shelves, newsstands and especially my classroom.

I like to keep a copy of your magazine in my waiting room, but will not do so with the October issue. Our psychology staff does not find the cover photo appropriate for a wide range of ages.

Your magazine is the only one I read cover to cover. I then pass it to my daughter, who teaches school and has two children. But I didn’t feel it was appropriate to share your October issue or leave it lying around. Is it necessary to have such a graphic cover display?
