SCHOELLERSHAMMER KICKS OFF PM OVERHAUL
Papierfabrik Schoellershammer has begun rebuilding PM 5 at its mill in Diiren, NorthRhine Westphalia, Germany. The upgrade was scheduled for completion at the beginning of September.
The revamp will boost the recycled containerboard machine’s speed from 870 m/min to 1,000 m/min. The 5.5 m wide unit currently produces testliner and fluting in the 90-170 g/m^sup 2^ range and has a capacity of 180,000 tonnes/yr. The work will enable the privately owned firm to increase output of corrugating materials with lower basis weights, as well as improving the strength of the board produced.
