Citizens dive into new aquatic center
What do you get when you mix families, water and movies? A “dive-in” movie that makes a big splash! That’s how the town of Irvine, Calif., opened its newly renovated aquatics center, named the William Woolett Jr. Aquatics Center for the city’s first employee and city manager.
The new center boasts two 50-meter pools, a 25-yard swimming area, one- and three-meter springboards, swimming pool lifts for those with disabilities and three new family dressing rooms. The center will be open year-round, and will cater to all ages, including the Woodbridge and Irvine high school swim teams.
Other activities at the grand opening included aquatic demonstrations, family recreation swimming, a splash contest and open house tours.
