A Successful Year in Yuma, Arizona

The Single Marine and Sailor Program of MCAS Yuma has had a very successful year, as over 600 Marines and Sailors of all ranks attended the first ever holiday Barracks Bash in December 1999. This event was sponsored by AT&T along with individuals of the air station who raised money for the men and women of this installation. H&HS hosted the event in their quad area. Many senior enlisted and officers volunteered their time to prepare and serve countless hamburgers, hotdogs, and other munchies. The Drug Demand Reduction Program offered an alternative to the beer sales by providing non-alcoholic beverages to anyone who wanted one, free of charge.

To put the icing on the cake, the program won first place for Best Overall Program of a Medium Installation at the National Single Marine Program Conference held in September 1999.

Many other Single Marine/Sailor Program activities were offered during the year such as: Summer Splash, Pool Party, Singled Out, Karaoke Contest, Midnight Madness Bowling, Racquet Ball tournament, Beat the Heat Bash, Reggae Fall Jam and Beach Bash, and Moonlight Volleyball.
