Shari Missman Miller
Neopost’s S168 tabletop folder inserter system is designed for use in an office environment. Compact, quiet, and easy to use, the S168 includes a unique combination of advanced features that allow small and midsize companies and offices to process documents with the control and efficiency formerly only available to large companies. The S168 can trifold and insert up to five sheets of paper into an envelope, and can process up to 30,000 envelopes per month. It can be programmed to handle jobs such as payroll processing or used to simply fold and insert letters into envelopes at the touch of a button. The S168 handles a wide variety of documents, including invoices, reply envelopes, cards, small booklets, and prefolded flyers. Among the features the system offers:
* A Load ‘N Go mode allows users to load their documents and run their applications at the touch of a button. This mode automatically detects which feeders have paper, then adjusts settings such as fold type, fold length, envelope size, paper length and paper thickness. Load ‘N Go virtually eliminates operator adjustments and the need to program every job.
* A FlexFeed document feeding system allows users to insert documents in almost any combination and process sets of varying paper sizes and assembly order. There’s no need to dedicate feeders to specific paper sizes or tasks, and FlexFeed has the intelligence to feed multiple sheets from the same feeder and supports dynamic loading of additional sheets during processing.
* A Powerfold five-document folding mechanism can double-fold or trifold and insert up to five sheets of 20-pound paper to accommodate a wide variety of applications and paper thickness.
* A Secure ‘N Feed thickness detection system automatically detects the thickness of the first document as it passes through the feed stations and verifies the thickness of subsequent documents. This ensures documents are not split into separate envelopes or combined into a single envelope.
* An optional Optical Mark Recognition system supports variable page length documents by scanning optical marks applied to documents as they’re printed. The optical marks uniquely identify the beginning and end of each document and are used to separate documents such as individual statements and invoices.
* A single, centralized control panel, with graphic and text prompts, allows users to monitor production status and to select, program and edit up to nine of their common applications.
Other user-friendly features of the S168 include easy and complete access to the paper path; self-cleaning rollers for easy maintenance; four adjustable fingers for accurate insertion into various types of envelopes; and the ability to interface with a mailing machine to print postage on the completed envelope.
