Douglas, Carol Anne
JERUSALEM–The Israeli High Court has ordered the government to register a lesbian co-mother as the second mother of her partner’s child and ti list him on her national identity card. Nicole “Berner-Kadish, an American-Israeli, had adopted Matan Berner-Kadish in California. Ruti Berner-Kadish, who also holds dual citizenship, had her son by artificial insemination.
Nicole has now given birth to the couple’s second son, Naveh. The couple will face another legal battle to have Ruti approved as his second mother.
