This is a how-to book for parents (more for fathers) on raising sons to be nonsexist while living in a patriarchal world. Kivel gives clear and concrete advice that is less pie-in-the-sky than some authors in part due to the fact he actually has two sons and has encountered the difficulties in applying theory to practice as a parent. The book includes advice on co-parenting, challenging homophobia, democracy in the family and the classroom, sports, disability, violence, drugs, consumerism and healthy sexual relationships.
