Waukesha Two male roommates got into a vicious fight Tuesday and police want one of them charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

The 35-year-old Waukesha man who police want charged is believed to have, among other things, stuck his finger into his roommate’s eye, threatened him with a 12-inch butcher knife and come at him with a rope or cable, Police Lt. William Graham said.

Graham said police would refer the case to the Waukesha County district attorney’s office. He gave the following account:

The fight occurred when a 39- year-old man returned to the apartment the men share in the 700 block of Morgan Ave. at 9:25 p.m.

After he walked into the apartment, a verbal argument began that turned into a full- fledged fight.

“(His roommate) had a rope or cable in his hands and he came at him,” Graham said. The 39-year-old grabbed at the rope, so the other man reached down into his pants and pulled out a 12-inch butcher knife.

They grappled, the butcher knife fell to the floor and the 35- year-old man began gouging at his roommate’s eye and attempting to choke him by placing his hand in his roommate’s mouth.

The 35-year-old man tried to pull his roommate’s tongue just as the manager of the apartment building came to see what the fracas was about.

Both men fled, but were soon apprehended.
