Multiplan Inc. of New York City, parent of HealthEOS by Multiplan in Brookfield and De Pere, will announce today the acquisition of a physician and hospital network in New England.
The acquisition — coupled with others that are planned but not yet announced — could mean the addition in the next year of a total of about 100 jobs in Wisconsin, split between offices in Brookfield and De Pere, said Bruce Lefco, president and chief executive of HealthEOS by Multiplan.
Offices in Brookfield and De Pere process claims and handle back- office functions for Multiplan, Lefco said. Health-EOS by Multiplan, the umbrella organization for Wisconsin’s largest preferred provider network, will operate the Connecticut-based physician and hospital network.
In today’s acquisition, Multiplan is agreeing to buy Northeast Health Care Alliance, a preferred provider organization in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Multiplan acquired the De Pere-based Wisconsin Preferred Provider Network in 1997, and added Health Care Network and Associates for Health Care, both based in Brookfield. The company has 1.2 million clients in Wisconsin.
Nefco said the company employs 250 people in Wisconsin, evenly split between offices in Brookfield and De Pere.
