Does Microsoft Alone Own the Giant Spyware Code?

There’s a (not-so) silent partner that says it co-owns the anti-spyware code and definition updates that Microsoft purchased this week. Sunbelt Software Distribution had cemented a deal with Giant Corporation Software before Microsoft bought the company. Now Sunbelt and Microsoft are issuing somewhat conflicting claims regarding who owns what and for how long. (Read Microsoft’s statement on the Sunbelt/Giant controversy here.) This ought to be a messy one to untangle.
