Regional Juvenile facility debt rises
Thirteen counties that use facilities of the West Central Regional Juvenile Center have incurred debts of nearly $450,000 over the past six years.
Clay County Commissioners voted to pay $250,000 of the accrued indebtedness provided 12 other counties that use the facility pay the balance of $187,000.
Clay County is the primary operator of the facility, which can be sustained only through neighboring jurisdictions leasing juvenile beds.
