Cybercops monitor child exploitation

The Kennewick Police Department trained two officers to monitor cyberspace for pedophiles.

The department used a $45,000 federal grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to prepare Detectives Simon Mantel and Tim Scott as computer crime experts.

OJJDP says 28.5 million American children use the Internet. Of those, one in five is a target of online sexual solicitations, one in 17 was threatened or harassed and one in-33 was contacted.
