In the May issue of EBONY supermodel/executive TV producer Tyra Banks discusses life as a top model, her new singing career, why she made the move from in front to behind the cameras, and what it is she looks for in a mate.
Banks, a statuesque beauty who stands at 5-foot-11, has taken glamour to new heights as a supermodel. In an industry that can be competitive and catty, Banks has accomplished a series of major achievements in her career, including becoming the first Black female to grace the covers of Sports Illustrated, GQ and Victoria’s Secret catalog. Now at age 30 she is continuing her success but this time in the world of entertainment.
She is currently creator and executive producer of UPN’s top rated show “America’s Next Top Model.” The reality show, which has received high ratings since its premiere, has been picked up by the network for two more seasons.
Banks’ talents don’t stop there. The L.A. native has taken on the music industry and plans to release her debut CD this fall. Her first single Shake Ya Body has music lovers taking notice.
