Singer Lou Rawls weds Nina Inman in Memphis – Newsmakers – Brief Article

At exactly 12:01 a.m. January 1st, Lou Rawls said “I do” for the third time, exchanging vows with Nina Malek Inman, 33, following a performance he gave in Memphis.

Rawls’ spokesman, David Brokaw, told JET that the singer met Ms. Malek Inman two years ago when she was a flight attendant for Continental Airlines and he was a passenger on a flight she worked. The two started dating soon afterwards, Brokaw said.

The two had planned on getting married in the spring of 2004 but “as Lou said, ‘I looked at her and she looked at me’ and they said, ‘Let’s do it,'” Brokaw recalled.

Shelby County Mayor A.C. Wharton performed the ceremony. As it was a last-minute decision, no family attended the ceremony-only Rawls’ road manager and the bride’s best friend.

The marriage is her second. Rawls, 68, has three adult children and Ms. Malek Inman has none.

No honeymoon plans were announced. However, Brokaw pointed out that the singer will be performing in Nassau in the Bahamas in a couple of weeks and that could serve as a honeymoon situation.
