Under the leadership of Graham Turner, Flight Centre has grown from a tiny tour-bus operator into a billion-dollar chain of travel agencies, emphasising decentralised decision making, democratic workplaces and innovative management techniques. Johnson, formerly an employee and director of the company, was in a good position to record the process of growth, but her writing often veers towards the breathless. Family Village Tribe is not a critical analysis, but it offers a fascinating view of an unconventional business approach.
