Kerry’s Buys Twyford

ACQUISITION

Kerry’s Bromeliad Nursery has finalized a deal to acquire the assets of Twyford International, including the name and the company’s patents. The deal includes Twyford’s 250,000 square feet of greenhouse and 25,000 square feet of lab space in Apopka, FIa., as well as a laboratory facility and greenhouse operation in Costa Rica.

“We intend to be much more aggressive about pursuing new and improved varieties and expanding our customer base,” says owner Kerry Herndon. “We’ll provide fresh capital and opportunities for the company to go forward.”

Kerry’s has more to celebrate with the news that the company is being honored with the 2005 Commissioner’s Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award from the Florida Farm Bureau. The honor recognizes environmentally innovative farming practices by Florida growers and ranchers. Larson Dairy Inc. and Richard N. Raid are also being honored.
