David Styers, a volunteer management expert from the Points of Light Foundation, will conduct a training session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. about trends in volunteerism and reaching untapped groups in the community. The lecture is at the Woman’s Center for Wellness, 9637 Jefferson Highway. A panel of Baton Rouge volunteer coordinators will also reveal how they mobilize untapped groups in the community. The 55th annual Baton Rouge Downtown Christmas Parade will start at 5 p.m. at Hibernia Bank near Third Street. Fifty floats, along with marching bands, riders and dancers, will move west onto North Boulevard and end up on River Road. The festivities include presentations at the USS Kidd, the Louisiana Arts and Sciences Museum and the Old State Capitol. The Cortana Kiwanis and The Duplessis Foundation are this year’s sponsors in association with the Downtown Development District.
