California University to have ‘largest fuel cell power plant’
California State University, Northridge, is preparing to open what it calls the “single largest fuel cell power plant at any university campus in the world.”
The 1 megawatt plant was purchased from FuelCell Energy last year for around $3 million
“By incorporating the fuel cell plant into campus operations, we are reducing the university’s carbon dioxide emissions into the environment by 60 million pounds during its lifetime,” said Tom Brown, executive director of Northridge’s physical plant management.
